Hi regular readers, welcome new readers,

 

Happy Tuesday! I’m up to my neck in work again today which is always a good thing because no work = no moolah! So hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to work I go, even though my office is just 2 steps from my bed. The temptation is to jump right back into bed when my eyes get tired from looking at the screen, but it’s nothing that a good, strong cup of coffee won’t fix!!

Now the Internet medium itself is evolving so fast that those who cannot cope with the demands of social media marketing are likely to be left behind.

Depending on your business it seems social media marketing has been found to be a mandatory survival tool, all those who are into website marketing must first learn Strategies along with some proven techniques to survive there.

The social networking revolution is led by Twitter with its micro blogging, but other social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. are equally effective, as are many other smaller discussion forums devoted solely to specific products or subjects.

Keeping the following rules in mind will help you to get the maximum benefit out of social networking sites:

   1. Remember that time is at a premium for all marketers. So learn to speed read things and come back only to those points and comments that appear to be of some importance from the point of view of website marketing.

   2. For the same reasons, make your own data and comments short and precise so that others will not have to waste time on it. In today's fast world, no one has time to go through elaborate writings, however well written they are. In addition, remember to start your content with something that is likely to attract attention and not with platitudes. The job of attracting attention is very important in marketing.

   3. Choose your sites for social media marketing carefully. Instead of going to several sites, it is always better to concentrate on a few and communicate there regularly. Remember to post something interesting at the site on a regular basis so that other members will be interested in responding. Select the good communicators at the site and follow their trail to make things go viral.

   4. Remember that, for social media marketing to be effective, the interesting post with the ability to create ripples need not necessarily be of the product itself. It can be an independent topic that has the ability to create a buzz. Some topics, connected to a dominant current event but not necessarily directly about it, generally have the ability to stir people and go viral.

   5. Find creative ways to squeeze in the tagline of the product so that it's tagging along appears incidental. Website marketing is all about making people come to get the unique content of a blog or interesting comments given at a forum and not to come for the product.

   6. Use the automation technique selectively. Automation is often necessary to save time, but personalized messages have tremendous value from the social media marketing perspective. Automated replies should not go to those who are potential customers.

   7. Follow only those tweets or blogs that are likely to be of some benefit in the long run. It may not be possible to see so far into the future; however, by following a thread for a couple of days, most people are able to have a fair guess of where the other person is headed and what his requirements could possibly be.

   8. When someone puts a question in a discussion forum, try to answer it in a way that could be useful to the questioner. Such an answer is most often the beginning point of a good social media marketing opportunity. If the person thanks you, try to keep in touch with him and impress him. It is possible that even if he does not need what you hope to market, he may spread your ideas and product by word of mouth.

Make some solid plans about the time you spend on reading conversations, whether replying through tweets or blogs, or for adding completely fresh content and starting a conversation.

If all these things cannot be done on the same day, keep separate days of the week for each. I would even suggest keeping a day planner with specific topics and dates. Almost like a journalistic diary, this will give you points to go back and share with your readers.

Spending a disproportionate time at one site will not yield proportionate results. No marketing can be done in a haphazard way and social media marketing can never be.
