Through the Editor’s Window

Hi regular readers, welcome new readers,

This morning, I accepted a job offer from the company I used to work. I know, I was really torn about whether or not to accept. I mean, there I was talking about spreading myself too thin.

But I’ve turned them down twice already in the past few months and if I turn them down again this time, they’ll probably never call me again. They’ve been really understanding, I enjoy working with them and the money will come in handy as my son starts college soon.

I’ll only be working 3 days a week for a start and I’ve gotten my longtime friend, Clair to help me with the admin tasks of running my home business. So she’ll be sending out my ezines, processing your ads and a few other things.

Clair’s quite the girl about the internet and I know she’ll have things running like clockwork around here. Everything at Go Get Global will be the same. Remember I’m still here, just that Clair will be the frontliner from next week on.

I want to thank everyone of you for your support as I juggle the challenges of netpreneur and mom. Please email me at editor@go-getglobal.com anytime.

My regular business blog at G3 News & Views is updated daily, well-liked and is pulling good traffic, and I’ll continue posting money-making tips and business opportunities there.

on Go Get Global - News and Views blog

Thank you so much for staying with us. I hope you find this issue useful in your business. See you next week 2_smile!

5 Tips for Finding the Best Niche for Internet Marketing Wannabes

by Nathalie Fiset

You've probably already heard of niche marketing and how it has successfully launched the careers of many internet marketing personalities. Do you think it's your turn? Here's how you and other internet marketing wannabes can also find the best niche that fits their skills, training and interests:

Understand what niche marketing is.

A niche, is quite simply a specialized market. It is an area of marketing that focuses on the selling of a single product and/or service. People who sell clothes, for example, may be defined as providing a product for a generalized market. People who sell baby clothes, on the other hand, are catering to a niche market. A niche market is a group of businesses, corporations and individuals who have the same or at least similar needs and interests. A niche market is also easily defined and targeted.

Passion + Niche = A Great Business

Sometimes, it really does boil down to perception. Just because your cousin Tom was successful at selling surfboards to retirees doesn't mean you will, too. Or just because your best friend Gayle got her big break selling organic brownies, you're automatically qualified to succeed in the same business.

If you must work in a niche market, consider what you love best - your hobbies, interests, passions, whatever it is that gets you excited and keeps you going. What has passion got to do with it? A lot. The best niche for internet marketing wannabes is one that they are interested in and derive satisfaction from. When you love what you do, you'll fight for it, be more creative and see it through regardless of how tough the circumstances are.

As an internet marketing wannabe, you'll also devote more time, effort and talent in building your business, from creating a functional website to promoting your products and watching it grow. Plus, you get to enjoy what you're doing.

Know your niche.

Never go into a niche business as an internet marketing wannabe without first learning about the product and/or service you're interested in. If you love comic books, for example, that doesn't automatically qualify you as an expert. Do research and find out what's happening in the industry - who are the stars right now and which writers or artists to watch out for, which comic books sell, which ones are rare or what kind of trend is emerging.

Don't rely on complacency, laziness or arrogance when it comes to learning about your niche. The more you know about your niche, the more you'll find creative ways to promote or sell it.

Identify who makes up your niche market.

Now that you know you have a product or service to sell, who's going to buy? Your product could be the best invention there is but how will you promote it if you don't know who to target?

Define your market through research. As an internet marketing wannabe, start making use of the Web now. Perform a keyword search about the product or service you wish to offer or if you still have a generalized idea of what you want to sell, use all related keywords for search queries. Search out the demographics about who buys the stuff - their age, gender, location, even educational background and the type of work they do. Find out how saturated or untapped the niche area is, who the major players are and how well (or badly) they are doing.

Use a survey to seek out your niche market. Even if you're an internet marketing wannabe, you might have some selling experience in the past or at least know someone who has. Design a survey around the niche product or service you're interested in or make a list that people can choose from to help you find out what they like and do not like. Try to write the survey in such a way that you zero in on the unique needs and wants of your survey group.

Know your future competition.

Why learn about your competition? These guys represent the same people who want a bite out of the same pie you have your eye on. In fact, some of them may already have their slice and still want more. It's important that you know who they are to help you decide the best niche for your internet marketing business. If there are too many players active in the industry, for example, can you still realistically compete?

Your competitors will determine many aspects of your niche business - how to produce your product, how to promote it, where to sell it, how much to price it and even what to name it. When you know your competitor, you know exactly whether you can stand next to them as a wilting flower in the sun or as an emerging star.
