Happy New Year! It’s great to be back though I have to say this year has started out much busier than I thought. I’ve been working hard during the holidays but even then, I’m still behind.

A Basic Affiliate Marketing Plan in 5 Steps

To be successful at any business, it is imperative that you have a plan of action and follow it. Affiliate Marketing is no exception, indeed, with so many different products to promote, you need to keep a firm hand on the reins to see a profit. Set your plan in motion and watch the profits begin to roll in.
Step One: Select the affiliate program that you wish to promote. You will be living and breathing this product, so make sure that you are interested enough to follow through.

Step Two: Get a website so that you can draw visitors to your offer. You can succeed in this arena without one, but it is much easier if you have your own domain name and URL.
You will want to fill your website with articles and information to provide your visitors with a reason to come back. Remember to make sure that your page has meta-tags and a description as this helps a search engine rank your page for relevance to a user search.
Step Three: Create several splash pages. You will want to have several pages ready so that you can determine which page is getting the best results.
Splash pages allow you to brand not only the affiliate product that you are promoting but also your name and face, which will allow you to build a relationship with your customers.
A splash page should have a link to your auto-responder so that interested persons can sign-up for additional information and allow you to build a targeted list of potential buyers.

Step Four: Get an auto-responder, even a free one will allow you to set up multiple e-mail messages, or an e-zine to further build a solid relationship with potential customers.
We have all heard the line: "the money is in the list". The people who sign up through your splash page are stating that they have an interest in what you are providing.
Set up your messages in advance, some free auto-responders will allow you to set up 20 messages, but any messages added after a person joins your list will have to be sent manually. It is better to have them ready before you send traffic to the page to save yourself a lot of time later.
Step Five: Advertise your splash pages. There are dozens of ways to do this that cost little or nothing. You can run a URL link in traffic exchanges, as an e-mail or blog signature line, in free ads or even in the resource box of articles that you write.
The main point of advertising is to let people know what you have to offer. Be creative, do not copy what everyone else is doing, you want your item to stand out. Most of all keep that ad running!
This is a basic plan that anyone can follow to get started making money on the Internet. By having a plan and following through with it, you can succeed in Affiliate Marketing, but do not fool yourself into thinking that it is not work. The only way to succeed in this or any other business is to put your best effort forth. Only you can determine your level of success!
